2017 POWER RANKINGS - WEEK ONE

It's here: the 2017 ICFPower Rankings, WEEK ONE.

ALL KINDS of surprises with the Circle conference, with plenty of blowouts. The City conference was a bit more predictable in Week One - what treats await for Week Two?

What are these rankings based on, you ask? Well, a history of winning matches is a good place to start, but participation points can also go a long way. These factors, combined with our unique, emotional, and unfair prejudices of the neighborhoods from which these clubs reside, bring us to this week's groupings of the best and the worst that ICF has to offer.

CIRCLE CONFERENCE

1. IRVINGTON FC
Wow. After an 8-1 destruction of the lowly Meridian Kessler United, morale is high as they look to stay up top the Circle Conference.

2. MIDTOWN FC
Do our eyes deceive us? Newbies Midtown FC showed the rest of ICF that they aren't messing around with a 7-0 whoopin' of Garfield Athletic. Our biggest jump this week, moving up six spots.

3. MAPLETON FC
Where the heck is Mapleton FC? Who cares. They currently sit 2nd in the standings and will look to wow the haters in Week Two.

4. OLD NORTH UNITED
The rust of a championship looked evident in Week One, but let's give them some credit: they fought valiantly against a tough FC Fountain Square side.

5. OLD SPEEDWAY CITY
Squeaking out a win in week one, OSC will look to continue scoring goals but showing off defense as well.

REALWEST.png

6. REAL WEST
Not a great start - after one week, Real West has given up twice as many goals as they did all of last year.

BROADRIPPLECITY.png

7. BROAD RIPPLE CITY
After a narrow defeat to Old Speedway City, BRC is hungry to add three points and move back up to the top half of the table.

AC Woodruff White.png

8. AC WOODRUFF PLACE
Goals help win matches. They couldn't find the back of the net in week one, joining Garfield Athletic Club as the two clubs without a goal this season.

9. MERIDIAN KESSLER UNITED
Meridian Kessler will need a more united approach on defense after surrenduring a whopping 8 goals in week one.

CITY CONFERENCE

1. ATLETICO COTTAGE HOME
Same 'ol, same 'ol from last year, as CoHo is looking like an early season title contender already.

2. UPPER DOWNTOWN FC
A mile above AC Mile Square in week one, UDFC have to be feeling quite chipper about 2017.

3. REAL FLETCHER PLACE
A big win over the always spirited Bates-Hendricks FC will put a bit of swagger in their step for week two.

SPORTINGHERRONMORTON.png

4. SPORTING HERRON MORTON
A 4-0 victory over miserable AC Woodruff Place won't guarantee success for SHM in 2017, but it's not a bad place to start.

5. FC FOUNTAIN SQUARE
A pesky first match against the defending champs Old North United, FCFS battled bravely and was rewarded with a hard-earned single point and a bit of respect from the rest of the league.

6. BATES-HENDRICKS FC
A narrow defeat to Real Fletcher Place is enough to move them up two spots.

7. MASS AVE UNITED
Not much went right for MAU in week one, looking very pedestrian against a surprising Mapleton FC.

8. GARFIELD ATHLETIC CLUB
No goals in week one. Big goals in week two: score.

9. AC MILE SQUARE
ACMS lost 6-1 to conference favorites Upper Downtown FC, and the reality of being overmatched should help them lick their wounds from a poor week one.
