JUST A FLESH WOUND
BY DREW KINCIUS
Jose Medina, cruel recipient of a crushing decapitation during Week One play, is slated to return to full action and will be able to play for the remainder of the season.
What was initially considered to be a career-ending injury, Jose decided to get a second opinion from additional medical personnel. After a grueling set of tests, including an attempt to reattach his head to his body, Jose was given clearance to play, simply as a face, nothing more.
His head strong decision may have saved his season.
ICF rules clearly state that if a player's noggin is thrusted off the pitch, it must find its way back on the field without assistance. Throw-ins or spot kicks of the head to place it back in play are forbidden.
Jose is yet to determine which position will be the best fit for him moving forward, but he is leaning, well, more like nodding, towards goalie.
