Broad Ripple City Celebration Mishap
Talk about egg on your face! It’s been reported that Indy City Futbol Commissioner Jordan Updike has given Broad Ripple City Manager Ron S. until the end of this season to get 10,000 t-shirts that read “Back 2 Back Indy City Futbol Champs” out of the Commish’s garage.
It appears back in 2016 the overzealous manager and spring season champion thought it was a foregone conclusion that Broad Ripple City would repeat as ICF champs the following season. That’s why you don’t count your chickens before they hatch—a practice that has become a lot more common over the past years in the Broad Ripple neighborhood.
As one can imagine, 10,000 t-shirts take up a lot of space. Unfortunately, even the needy don’t see the value in accepting these shirts either. After multiple attempts of trying to donate the shirts to the local Wheeler Mission, an employee could be heard saying, “They didn’t even win back to back. Do you think we’re stupid?”
Be on the lookout at the next few weeks of games, where you’ll be able to pick up 200-300 shirts to load into your car (or bike). Additionally, Broad Ripple City is prepared to pay $10 for every hundred shirts that you take off their hands.
Currently, there are two GoFundMe pages set up to help with this cause. The first, created by Broad Ripple City, is called “Help us pay to ship thousands of shirts to wherever they sent those 19-0 perfect season Patriots shirts”. The other, set up by the rest of League management, is titled “Help Jordan take back his garage”.
This report will be updated as more details become available.
