Inter Monon was an expansion team for the 2021 season and wasted no time making an impact. Consistent with being named after a gold standard railroad, Inter Monon claimed the inaugural League 2 title in 2021.

The team colors are red, white, and black.

The team crest features nods to the famous Monon Railroad and the Monon Trail.

Inter Monon is considered the area East of College and West of Keystone, north of I-70 and up to 38th St. Among the neighborhoods included in this area are Kennedy King, Reagan Park, Friends and Neighbors.

The team’s namesake stems from the Monon Railroad, which used to operate adjacent to the neighborhoods in the area. The Monon Railroad provided passenger train service throughout northern and southern Indiana, including routes between Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville. Starting in 1999 and over the course of the next few decades, the tracks were converted to a pedestrian and biking trail, which is now known as the Monon Trail. The Monon Trail runs from downtown Indianapolis all the way north to Sheridan, Indiana.

The area’s most famous landmark is the Kennedy-King Park, where, in 1968, Robert F. Kennedy gave an improvised speech during a presidential campaign rally on the night Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed. He urged attendees to continue Dr. King’s example of nonviolence. A memorial of both men is located in the southern end of the park.

In addition, Inter Monon also  boasts a number of outstanding local businesses, including Scarlet Lane, West Fork Whiskey Co. and Provider Coffee. The area has seen a surge in new home construction, an appropriate attribute for an area represented by an expansion team.
